     Rules and Regulations

Conduct of students:

  • Students conduct on and off campus should be exemplary.
     

  • Attendance of students in their respective classes is of paramount importance and the institution makes extra efforts to enforce this requirement.
     

  • Violence in any way, shape or form shall not be tolerated, in any cost. This applies also when the students are off campus.
     

  • Those residing in the hostel must abide by the rules laid down by the institution pertaining to the hostel.
     

  • Dress code (including shoes) has to be maintained at all times. It is mandatory for all students irrespective of their stream to remain in uniform during class hours and while visiting library and office as well.
     

  • Any failure to abide by the rules and regulations of the institution, shall lead to strict disciplinary action.
     

  • It is expected and enforced that the students are respectful toward the faculty and administration.

Ragging:

At Shivalik College of Engineering we have a completely different vision of education and a different system, recognizing value of culture that comes from pursuing an ashima way of life and sprit of bothered hood. Fear and violence has no place in seats of learning. However, ragging is a serious criminal non- bailable offence and any students involved in such acts will be dealt with stringent disciplinary action including rustication from the college.

  1. Ragging in any form as per decision of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India is strictly prohibited within the premises of the college, hostel, off campus transportation system (public and private)
     

  2. The acts or practices of ragging.
      (a)  Involve physical assault or threat to use physical force.
      (b)  Violate the status, dignity and honor of women students.
      (c)  Violate the status, dignity and honor of students belonging to scheduled case / scheduled tribe other  backward
            class. Expose students to ridicule and contempt and affect their self esteem.
      (d)  Entail verbal abuse and aggression, indecent gestures obscene behavior.

     

  3. Abetment to ragging whether by way of any act, practice, incitement of ragging will also amount to ragging.

Rules & Regulations:

  • Smoking / chewing tobacco, spitting and drinking/possession of alcohol are strictly prohibited in hostel building and college premises. If anybody is found indulging in such activities, strict disciplinary action will be taken against him/her.
     

  • Camera Mobile Phones are NOT permitted in the college / hostel premises.
     

  • Each student of this college must carry an identity card with his /her photograph affixed on it, duly attested by the director. They are required to wear the ID card inside the college campus.
     

  • The students should not loiter in the college premises when the classes are in progress. When they are free, they should make use of the college library.
     

  • Indulgence in activities of union or association based on caste, color, creed, language, nationality or political ideology will not be permitted within the premises of the college or in the hostel.
     

  • It is compulsory that a student maintains a minimum attendance of 75% at the end of each semester, to be eligible to appear in the university and internal examinations.
     

  • Students who are absent on medical grounds should produce a valid medical certificate along with an endorsement letter from the parent / guardian while reporting to college after recovery from illness.
     

  • A student who is continuously absent for 30 days, without a valid reason will be removed from the rolls of the college.
     

  • Students should not leave the class or attend it late under the pretext of paying fees or taking books from libraries or for any other reason. Time fixed for such purposes during working hours must be strictly followed.
     

  • Writing on walls, furniture, drawing tables, college buses and bathrooms is strictly prohibited. Damage done to college property shall be recovered from those who are responsible for it. The cost of any damage so caused will be recovered from the students collectively, if the responsibility for it cannot be laid on any individual or group of individuals.
     

  • Representation of complaints and grievances may be made individually to the director through the head of the Department.

Hostel Rules & Regulation:

  1. Smoking / chewing tobacco. Spitting and drinking alcohol are strictly prohibited in hostel building and the entire premises on campus. Hence, if anybody is found indulging in these activities, strict and prompt disciplinary action will be taken against him/her.
     

  2. Ragging in any form is illegal and strictly prohibited. Severe action with punishment including imprisonment will be taken against those who indulge in such activities.
     

  3. Day scholars, friends, parents /guests are not permitted to enter / stay in the hostel
     

  4. Students should not stay in the hostel during college working hours. Incase they have to stay in the hostel premises due to sickness, they should apply for leave as per college rules informing the warden, the reasons for staying in the hostel during working hours.
     

  5. Students must strictly adhere to the timings of the mess.
     

  6. Food will not be served in rooms and students are not allowed to take food to their rooms.
     

  7. If a student is ill, the same should be reported to the warden, who will then make suitable arrangements to take care of that particular student.
     

  8. Electrical switches must be put off, whenever not required / while going out of room. Water taps should be shut after use.
     

  9. Students are advised not to keep their valuable / cash in the hostel / room.
     

  10. Each student should see that the room occupied by him is kept neat and clean. There is a complaint register with the warden is available for nothing complaints on hygiene and repairs.
     

  11. All students residing in the hostel are required to make their beds before coming to classes in the morning.
     

  12. All students residing in the hostel are required to leave the key to their room in the cabinet provided in the hostel. They can lock their valuables in their individual cupboards.
