Department of Civil Engineering organized an Industrial Visit to Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, IIRS, ISRO

Department of Civil Engineering organized an Industrial visit for B.Tech 4th year students on 21st October 2016 at Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, IIRS, ISRO, situated at Kalidas Road, Dehradun. 20 students were accompanied with 2 faculty members Mr. Gagandeep Singh and Mr. Pankaj Goswami. Presentations were scheduled by the Scientists of IIRS to make the students aware about Remote Sensing, GIS & its applications. Mr. Pramod Kumar, Scientist/ Engineer –SG & Head, Urban & Regional Studies Division gave a presentation on various training programs conducted at IIRS along with the research activities conducted in various domains.

Miss Manu Mehta, Scientist/ Engineer -SD gave a very interesting and interactive presentation on basics of Remote Sensing followed by

another presentation on overview of GIS and its applications by Mr. Kapil Oberoi, Scientist/ Engineer –SE. Dr. Vaibhav Garg, Scientist/ Engineer –SD gave a presentation on how IIRS is using Satellite Remote Sensing and GIS in the field of water resources. After the presentation sessions the students were taken for a walk around the beautiful campus of IIRS. Photography was prohibited at IIRS.
